Curry Night
The trustees who visited India in March were anxious to give a ‘taste’ of their experiences to their supporters. Consequently, an evening of ‘Spicy Tales’ was arranged on the evening of the 16th May 2009 as well as a curry dinner.

The main dish was based on a chicken curry enjoyed by the travellers when they were visiting the Neerekshe Trust campus located near the village of Muranpur (near Raichur). The only allowance made for western taste was the use of chicken breasts instead of dismembered whole chickens.  The ‘hotness’ of the curry was acceptable to those of a gentler palate though trustee Peter Viveash, whose taste buds have been sorely tested over the years (and may be non-existent), preferred a more robust curry. The puddings were home-made by the families and friends of the trustees.

Initially, there was some concern that the evening would be a flop with few attendees. We need not have worried; the Parish Hall of St Peter’s was full with about ninety guests. Each table was laid for 8 people. There were candle lights, wonderfully illustrated menus and appropriate place settings, which completed the presentation. While the guests arrived, a projector showed pictures of the recent visit. Also included in the displays around the hall were details of the IAF Trust, photos of village life in India and local worthies.

The talks were brief but whetted the appetite for discussion around the tables.

The trustees were very pleased with the resulting response by the supporters and were very grateful for all the hard work by the cooks, table layers, and washing-up staff.

It just goes to prove that the Lord provides - both people and fun!
